Bungendore Youth Orchestra (BYO) was established in 2011 as a not-for-profit music group that aims to support and improve creative and cultural opportunities for young people in Bungendore and the surrounding community. The orchestra brings together young musicians of all levels to support creative expression, develop skills, have fun and play music to a high standard.

 

Over the years BYO has aimed to engage and support the musical growth of our young players. The orchestra rehearses each week in the School of Arts during school terms. BYO also runs school holiday workshops and performs at community events.

BYO provides a creative and nurturing space for local kids (and their families) to connect through music. It is also an opportunity for older students moving onto high school to continue on and be able to reunite musically and socially, as well as to provide inspiration to younger players. 

 

Alumni, and students not able to play at regular weekly sessions, are always welcome to rejoin the group, and the range of other activities we run from time to time (such as workshops, and Friday night jam sessions).  In this sense, an ‘extended musical family and community’ is nurtured. BYO will continue to provide students with development opportunities and performance experiences both within Bungendore and the surrounding area.
